Is it legal to sell a sword in britain?
I have an old samurai sword that I want to sell.
Is it still legal to sell them on the private market in the UK?
Sections 1 and 2 of the Knives Act 1997 prohibit the marketing of a knife in a way which suggests it is suitable for combat or otherwise encourages violent behaviour using the knife as a weapon. You would therefore have to find some way of selling it in the antiques market, to make it clear that it is a collector’s item rather than a weapon.
